Hand 1 - I think you should lead the river for about $2-3 and fold to a raise. While he certainly might have an 8 here you're opening yourself to a bluff from a missed flush draw without betting.
Hand 2 - As played, I'd be reeealy tempted to make it about $10-12 on the turn and see what happens...does anyone go for a check/raise here instead?
