Is there anywhere you can go to update firefox? Similar to the windows auto-update feature?

You'll see a green / red icon at the top right next to the animated thingy whenever you load a page.

Or you can go to Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Software Update -> Check Now

What would have made you think Firefox is perfect? The Mozilla Foundation has never claimed that.

Any type of complex software has imperfections.

Firefox is simply a better browser, not perfect. It is more secure, better compatibility with standards, better features (tabbed browsing, RSS bookmarks, etc), and a crapload of great, free extensions (ad block, mouse gestures, sage).
