Default Stud8 Tournament 3rd Street Play

I'm dinking around, rebuilding my bankroll after blowing it on a grand vacation. Tried a stud8 SNG. Fun stuff.

First level, 15/30, 2 ante, 5 bring-in, stacks ~800. Hero's dealt (K9)K. A deuce brings it in, a five calls. To your left are a seven and a jack. Kings and nines are live. Your action?

I vote fold. Am I wrong? Is this obvious?

If you're playing a low level SNG where you can expect multiple people to stick to any low draw than you can safely fold. However in the example given there is a single caller with only a J and 7 to act after. A completion here has a decent chance of getting it heads up, so completing is probably worth it.

I Raise to hopefully get the jack out and... with the 2 bring in and the 5 calling the 7 might also fold...your kings are prolly best at this point

Kc 9d Kh 0.527
4s Ad 7h 0.473

Kc 9d Kh 0.351
As 4s 7h 0.324
5s 3h 2h 0.325

Kc 9d Kh 0.285
As 4s 7h 0.211
5s 3h 2h 0.233
3s 2s 4h 0.271

I don't think lows coming along is all that big of a problem.

No one is questioning whether or not we have an equity edge. However, the edge is very thin. Even in hold'em, where equity edges are much bigger, we're folding many decent hands this early in a tourney.

For what it's worth, I prefer to really push big pairs late in a tournament when your completion is more likely to get the pot heads-up (or 3-way with the bring-in) or just win the pot outright

Early on, the pots are small and my opinion is that you should play tight, with two-way hands like 3 to a baby straight (gaps are ok), 3 to a baby flush, 2 babies and an ace, two aces and a baby

I agree with this post for a MTT, but this is a quick structure SNG where the hero has a good chance of getting it headsup.

I'd complete the bet and see what happens. If you are headsup and against a player who will keep calling with a low draw with absolutely no chance for high, then you have a very high equity edge. But I'd fold if he caught a threatening baby.
