What does betting the river accomplish?

Re: 30-60 Stud8 Hand...Still Learning
If this guy is capping it with Q53s I would imagine he will call bets on the river with hands that are worse than yours. I think it is very close though and it is probably and edge that doesnt need to be pushed in a game like this. I dont know the texture of this game though, it very well could play completely different than how it seems from the distance I watch it from.

Re: 30-60 Stud8 Hand...Still Learning
I don't think the bet on 5th is bad if you have two pair. If you get raised, you know you are probably getting free rolled for the high end, so you can check-call down (or check-fold on 6th if he catches say an Ace). If he just calls, you know you can fire with impunity on 6th street if he appears to catch a brick (as he did in this case). It's close but I would probably bet, I don't want to give anyone a free card if they are still drawing to the low.
This might go without saying, but if I didn't have two pair, I would check and give serious consideration to folding if bet into. Mike |

Yeah, you'll want to read Zee a couple dozen more times. Spend some time on twodimes.net plugging in various scenarios you run into. This will give you a feel for when you have the best of it and when you don't.

If he has a four-card low and a pair of aces, you lose money on every dollar you put in the pot.
