[ QUOTE ]
this is a very dumb post. poker is more than a party poker hand history. [/ QUOTE ] Okay. As I am trying to learn how to play NL, and I see someone who is supposed to be crushing the game make a play like this - I get curious as to why it might be so. I can usually come up with a rationalization for strange plays - but for this one I can't. I'm just wondering if there is one. To get better, I study plays by players that I assume are better than I am in order to improve and think outside the box. This one just doesn't make sense to me, though. -James |

[ QUOTE ]
the range of hands this guy is betting full pot with is something like 2 pair, a set, a straight, or an overpair... as he continues to put on full heat when there is such a dry board, it feels less and less like an overpair, thus narrowing down his hand range significantly... out of 2 pair, set, straifght, i can think of one that isn't calling a significant raise and two that are, you catching my drift? i think this hand was played fine, mp1 got value do to the other guy's aggression and lost the least versus the hands that would actually call a raise. prudent but that's not a bad idea given this flop texture. [/ QUOTE ] Thanks, I appreciate your input. You and Zee both seem to think this is a reasonable way to play the hand, so I guess I'll consider lines like this at some point. I can't imagine doing it without a really good read, but there is a lot I'm still figuring out. -James |

I can't believe all these responses. Unless I have opponent-specific knowledge, online I am raising this flop just about every time. The times I don't, I am raising the turn.

------> [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] rofl, vnh [/ QUOTE ] Oh boy, there's a group of 19 year olds outside my house with pitchforks and torches. Get out of the NL forum because we want to be the invincible rulers of of this particular piece of cyberspace!!! Lol, okay Kane I'll stop making you feel so threatened by posting in "your forum" haha. -James |
