PokerStars slowly draining the FPP economy
How do you like these Round 1 WCOOP satellites?
There was one on Sunday (Round 1 satellite to Event #1, 90 FPP entry) that collected 47,970 FPP in entry fees and paid out.. 9,000! They pocketed over 38,000 FPPs in that one tourney. To me this seems more like something PartyPoker would do. Why do they insist on only paying top 9? |

Re: PokerStars slowly draining the FPP economy
Why don't they base it on the entrants instead?

Re: PokerStars slowly draining the FPP economy
That is nuts. It sounds like Full Tilt, where 900 people can put in 500 FTP, and get 1 entry to a $200 tournament.

Re: PokerStars slowly draining the FPP economy
Why not just buy directly into the round 2 satellites? It's only 5,000 FPP.

[/ QUOTE ] Well when you consider that 90fpps are completley worthless, monetarily speaking, then they are getting an incredible deal. That would be quite the parlay...about 90 cents into a 2500 WCOOP seat? |

Re: PokerStars slowly draining the FPP economy
The 500 fpp satellites are much better value. Since it's possible to cash out the FPP value if you win, the correct strategy is to enter a bunch of these and build up an FPP stash. If you're a decent player your win rate should be much better than 1 in 10.

Re: PokerStars slowly draining the FPP economy
I e-mailed them about this..
"Hello Marc, We have recently made some changes to our software which will allow us to award seats from round 1 events based on the number of entrants as opposed to awarding a fixed number of seats. This new capability will be implemented for most, if not all, of our FPP satellites as we move forward. We are currently running a few of these FPP satellites which award seats to our Sunday 4:30pm event and this will be expanded to include the WCOOP in the very near future. Regards, Henry PokerStars Tournament Administrator" |
