WSOP events to be televised by ESPN

Below is the ESPN WSOP schedule from PokerPages.

Comparing to last year, the two seven-card stud broadcasts and the two pot-limit Omaha broadcasts are intact. However, I see no mention of the ladies limit hold'em, the razz, or the lowball. In their place are... NLHE tourneys aplenty! Color me not very excited with that development.

Why do they have such a long delay? More people watch TV in the fall?

Simple, ESPN's treating it like a TV series, you build up to the main event with the big season finale. You also need that time to help develop story lines, build up the ratings, and get all those cute little stories done that keep the casual fans watching the program.

Are those dates a day off for the WSOP prelim. events?

For example:

I was under the impression this event was on June 3rd, not June 4th.

I believe the tournament starts on the 3rd and the final table is held the next day.

Seems like they are leaving off the high/low events again. Too hard to explain to viewers. Also, the no limit and pot limit events make better TV with the big pots.

How long do you think it should take to edit hours upon hours of cards into something presentable to 99% of the public?

How long do you think it takes between filming the last scene of a movie and the release of that film? Usually a few months. And that's scripted. Think about the WSOP, they have the TV table, with a good 12 hours of footage per day, then miscellaneous cameras around the other tables trying to get good shots. Then you have to create the interviews and story lines, thats more editing.
