I think its correct sometimes if there is a 4-flush on the board and you are against a player who has raised preflop and bet every street. Its very important that you are playing against a somewhat competent opponent.

Re: I\'m looking for posts about bluff-raising the river....
you need a really solid read to do it. i mean, most people don't fold good hands to river raises. if up against a total maniac and you miss a draw on the river, an argument can be made to do it since he'll be bluffing a large majority of the time anyway. also, it works a LOT more live than online. people are just too skeptical/incompetent online. i've pulled it off live against decent opponents, but you need a good scare card and a solid image to make it work.

Re: I\'m looking for posts about bluff-raising the river....
I agree. Bluff raising the river is very hard to be done succesfully online. I think the board has to be very scary looking to your opponent, therfore you gotta have avery close idea of what the villain is holding. I've been succesful at it when I knew my opponent was holding a big ace and the board was rags, but I always bluffed the turn, making the villain think about whether or not he wants to put in two more bets for a showdown. |

Re: I\'m looking for posts about bluff-raising the river....
Generally: It usually comes with odd river bets by your opponent and you have less than a decent bluff catcher. Usually when you have lesser than A high since A high is a bluff catcher that you don't need to raise with at times.
It also comes when scare cards hit that the bettor isn't representing that he was drawing to. I think clark had a small thread about raising K high in some river spots. Ed had a JT hand a long while back where he pulled one off. I lost the link to it in my favs, sorry. Someone else may have it. b |
