Standard AQoff, or leak?
Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t15 (9 handed) converter
CO (t975) Button (t975) Hero (t985) BB (t940) UTG (t985) UTG+1 (t955) MP1 (t2070) MP2 (t955) MP3 (t1160) Preflop: Hero is SB with Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. UTG calls t15, 5 folds, Button calls t15, Hero raises to t82.5, 1 fold, UTG raises to t375, Button folds, Hero folds. Final Pot: t487.50 My thinking was if i didn't raise and a Q or an A hit the flop I could still be in big trouble. Thoughts? |

Re: Standard AQoff, or leak?
oh this is a super qualifier (9+1)
Obviously when he reraised i had to fold i'm just asking if raising was correct in this situation and I assume the fold was right? |

Re: Standard AQoff, or leak?
Perfectly fine facing the limp-reraise.
Most likely if you call this you'll still fold the flop. Even if you hit the A or Q there's still a decent chance you're behind. |

Re: Standard AQoff, or leak?
Looks fine to me. OOP, I might occasionally just complete and try to play a small pot, but raising is fine, and folding to the limp reraise is standard.

Re: Standard AQoff, or leak?
I dont think this is a clear as it looks. Obviously the safe play is to fold and move on. But if the villian is a strong player, he could very well make this move thinking you only raised to pick up the blinds and limpers.
Or if he is a weak but agressive player, he could very well do this raise with hands far weaker than the QQ+ and AK that you dont want to face. Still, I would probably fold here as well, although taking a flop and bet 200 no matter what flops would be an alternative. Calling and checking if you miss is ofcourse the weakest, and you will miss 65% of the time. |
