What are our opponents most common and profitable mistakes at 6max?
in other words...Where are we making our $$ in these games?
I'd like to see a discussion of what you guys think our opponents' common and profitable mistakes and how we can best take advantage of those. The most common opponent at 10/20 seems to be the LAG. Some of these guys are much tougher opponents than they would appear. Obviously something like Playing Too Many Hands is one but at 6max thats not as bad as some of their other plays. Mistake : Going multiple bets/streets on a bluff or semibluff. Profit: Value raising and getting to showdown with more marginal hands that we might ordinarily play possum with What else? |

Re: What are our opponents most common and profitable mistakes at 6max?
Even at 10/20 I think the most common mistake isn't LAGging, but rather poor preflop play -- too loose (very common), and not open-raising (not uncommon -- but obviously not as common a mistake as at 5/10 and 1/2).

I think by far their biggest mistake is drawing when there are no odds and in general calling down marginal hands.

I think even the loose players call too many blind steal attempts then fold too much (or too much comparatively to how much they're calling preflop) postflop.

I think playing too many hands is still the #1 mistake of the typical 6 max fish.

Calling down with ace high regardless of the board and action. Ditto for small pocket pairs.

cold calling preflop raises is a big mistake. open limping from the button (not raising to steal the blinds). last but not least ...playing too passively. oh yeah and not value betting the river.

This is more of a general observation, but I just don't think opponents at 5/10 or 10/20 read hands very well. You will get more intelligent players at 10/20, but there are still many donks and also many LAGs who use aggression as a substitute for hand reading rather than a complement.

Mistake : Going multiple bets/streets on a bluff or semibluff. [/ QUOTE ] One of my biggest problems. That and calling down when I'm clearly beaten. |

Cold calling from the sb facing a Btn open raise. --> The big blind can jam his premiums or get the odds for his draws.
There are also players who love to resteal in the BB with J5o UI by raising the turn. --> When in doubt, tend to call down with any showdown value. But I thinks the most profitable mistake is still the ol' calling too much with crap till the river. --> When in doubt, value bet. |
