Default Is it an advantage to be able to play other forms of poker

A quick and easy question from a guy who has only ever played no limit holdem, are there advantages to learning other forms of poker and if so which type should i learn and which should be avoided.

I'd avoid 7 card stud. It takes alot of time to become "good" and the game selection is very poor. Its also generally played for very small stakes or high.

Your best bet is to learn Omaha HI/Low as its the second most popular game. I don't see any advantage except you can mix up which games you play.

I totally agree. Stud8 and 2-7 TD are also fun. Ive heard that A-5 TD and Razz are also fun. Learn O8 though...tons of money to be made there.

This is the best post ever.

The advantage of learning to play different forms of poker is so that when you have the opportunity to play said forms of poker against fish, you can crush them.

What other reason could their possibly be?

It's probably helps scholastic players much more so than intuitive players.

This isn't true. It may be the part of the country you are from but if you on the East Coast, 7CS is a very popular game at all limits and live games are found up and down.

I hear there are a lot of limit hold'em specialists who get their ass handed to them in big mixed games. So if you can become good at the "other" games, you get to have money.
