the quickest way to come off like a moron is to speak in absolutes and use capitals. i'm not saying murphy did what i would have done, but your entire post is a pretty good argument for why arieh might assume he didn't have the full and therefore call. there are at least some ways to defend this play, which is why the first guy suggested it shouldn't be on the list, which is a totally reasonable claim. you, however, just sound like a tool.

How deep was Hoyt's stack when he did that? If he has less than 10XBB then that's a routine push with the blinds and antes.

Incomplete information.

i dont watch much tv poker but that arieh v murphy hand was strange. if i remember, i thought arieh was the aggressor on the flop and turn then murphy led the riv. anyway, it didnt seem to bad to me.

some bad ones i saw recently:

1. jen harmon folding her ak pf as the small stack when it was 4way.

2. that internet guy 3betting allin with a5 against tran. tran never folds and you risk your whole stack with a5.

3. bellande pushing allin against the other big stack with 46 on a board of a234. basically, he assured that a worse hand would fold and only a better hand would call.

It seems pretty stupid until you consider the opponents and the payouts.

Oh boy, it was a horrible move. Hoyt was one of the chip leaders, with D'agastino in the BB as teh chip leader. they had about 600k a piece with blinds at 10 and 20. IIRC nobody raised but a few people limped. Hoyt pushed all in in SB with 97s or 87s and Dag called with pocket 10's.

Also no limpers. Folded to Corkins who pushed his 30xBB stack with 97. D'ags calls with 30xBB + 1 chip with TT.
