Default Re: Dumbest home game rule ever?

I played in a home tournament one time that started with three tables. When we were done to two tables, things got a lottle ridiculous. There were five players at each table at one point and the five biggest stacks were at one table and I was at the table with the five smallest stacks.

Of course the blinds are raising, and I am quickly losing any hope of winning. Somebody busts out at the big stack table, so we are down to nine players, and I say we whould make the final table.

One of the guys who lived there says, "No, lets wait till 8 people are left and have a real final table."

I still don't know what that means.

The best part was the table with four stopped playing until someone got knocked out at my table, but they wanted to keep raising the blinds. Anyway, I eventually took my short stack to the 8 person final table got all-in preflop and got slowrolled by aces. Yeah, so I haven't really been back there.
