Cap the turn lead the river. MP2 most likely has an over pair. QQ+ although he could have JJ I highly doubt it. You have the 2nd high set. Im pumping the pot here.

Re: tell me how i did, what could i have done better
You may very well have misplayed every street. Congratulations!
PF: Just call. 88 is a nice hand, but not a 3 betting hand. Flop: Just bet. You've got at least one guy who obviously loves his hand. With a big pair like AA or KK, he's raising this anyway. So bet out, have MP1(fish) call, MP2 raise, then reraise, etc. Or, if you were going for the check raise, maybe, uh, I dunno, actually raise when it works? Turn: Check raise might be an okay play here, but by all means, cap, don't just call the 3 bet. River: Check raise very bad after doing it last hand, even after getting 3 bet. Villain might be scared that you hit a set or flush and check behind. If he's not scared, he's probably raising anyway, so get as many bets in as possible. |

Re: tell me how i did, what could i have done better
Don't like it. Not a single street I think.
3-betting 88 preflop? Why not just see a flop for 1 extra BB? Yuck. Okay, so preflop it gets capped. MP2 has AA, KK, QQ, AK, JJ most likely. Thus we are WB to all but the AK. On the flop, I bet out. What's the saying: "Fastplaying is the new slowplaying". There are two to the flush on the board, the pot is large, I'd take it down right here. I doubt it will with a lead out bet. What it most likely will do is keep the fish calling. If you go for a C/R, it'll be 2 to the fish and he'll fold. The entire hand plays differently if you bet out. You went for the C/R and forgot to raise. Bet out, the fish calls, MP2 raises, then you can either call to keep the fish in, or 3-bet it and drive the fish out, but hope for the MP2 cap. Turn, bet out. The way you played it, you have to cap the turn. I don't get the C/R on the river. Why not bet out and call a raise? Too many times the Villian will check it through now that the flush card has hit. He must have JJ or just isn't thinking if he's actually betting for value there with AA given all the action in the hand. |

Re: tell me how i did, what could i have done better
The result of your smooth-calling the turn then check-raising the river was the same as if you had just capped the turn and bet out on the river. But your way risked having the river checked through (a definite possibility, given the 3rd flush card).
The other thing to notice on the turn is that your check-raise faced Mr. Fish with two bets cold, which scared his dead money right out of the pot. |
