Default This is a common turn bet yes?

Seems like everytime I hit a lull I'm always questioning my basic plays:

PokerStars 2/4 Hold'em (5 handed) internettexasholdem.com

Preflop: Hero is UTG with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
Hero raises, 1 fold, Button calls, 1 fold, BB calls.

A9o five handed UTG is ok to raise pre-flop yes under most circumstances?

Flop: (6.50 SB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players)
BB checks, Hero bets, Button calls, BB folds.

Turn: (4.25 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets, Button calls.

River: (6.25 BB) T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, Button checks.

Final Pot: 6.25 BB

I usually fold A9o from UTG at a 5 handed table. Then again, the majority of the time I'm against 45-65% VPIP players, so the raise usually doesn't thin the field much. That said, I almost always go for the continuation bet on the turn. Don't know if it's correct, but I usually do it.

I am not sure if the preflop raise is correct. However, we know nothing of your opponents or of youself.

I like how you played the rest of the hand down. I think checking the river was good, since I cant see villian folding midpair in this situation

Yeah good point. The table is not too tight, and this is the third orbit I've participated in since joining the table. I won two hands the last orbit, going to a showdown with JTs and KK. So I'm playing decently.

Villian - This is with hindsight more than anything. Seems to cold call with a lot of hands, that are usually high cards when shown down. K8, AT etc.

Preflop raise is fine. I'd even raise this UTG in a 6-handed game occasionally.

Rest of the hand looks fine.

Raise is ok with me. I play the hand exactly the same as you do (maybe check the turn).

I always raise A9o UTG 5handed and about 20% of the time when its 6handed.

Rest of the hand is standard.

pfr w/ A9o UTG is fine 5 handed, but I fold it 6handed (usually). I also bet this turn- at this point you are going to get a lot of folds from hands that missed the flop and got no help on the turn. diamond draws will call you which is fine, since you're likely ahead. checking the river is bueno, as well.

What kind of table are you guys raising A9o UTG? A real tight one? Or mainly tight blinds?
