Default Turn check-raise gets 3-bet.

Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (9 handed) converter

Villain MP2 is 58/3/1.20/34. Very loose preflop, a decent player postflop. I have seem him bet a couple draws.
He likely sees me as a fairly aggressive player as I have been getting some fun cards to play in the last few orbits.

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
2 folds, Hero raises, MP2 calls, 3 folds, SB calls, 1 fold.

Flop: (7 SB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, MP2 bets, SB calls, Hero calls.

Turn: (5 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, MP2 bets, SB calls, Hero raises, MP2 3-bets, SB folds, Hero ?

Call and check/call the river.

Would it be a mistake to bet the flop?

Yuck. It looks a lil bit like JT, but you can probably call here and then call again if you get help on the river. Fold the river UI.

Brad

Edit - I would bet the turn FWIW. You have to remember that you will be betting this turn with AK too (or you should be in a 3 handed pot).

I think I bet this flop. You have fold equity. Maybe this is a leak.

I don't know if I like the turn c/r. A lot of times the MP player will be betting the flop to take a stab at a raggedy pot. He might be scared of the two callers and check the turn through. I think you need to lead the turn.

After he 3-bets, call it down. You want a showdown. You only need to be ahead 20% of the time to break even (I hope this math is right).

I was check/calling the flop prepared to fold the turn UI.

I checked the turn representing AK figuring MP2 would bet. Then I get SB trapped for one more BB, which worked great until MP2 3-bets.
Is this a reasonable play or am I overthinking?

Confession: On the turn I did not realize right away that the Q filled a straight for JT.

The problem with checking is that we have no idea what the flop bettor holds. He bet the flop when checked to so he could have just about anything. Here is why I like betting...

1) The overcard might scare him if he made a pair on the flop.
2) The fact that 2 people called on the flop might scare him.
3) He might be on some kind of draw and take a free card.

Good points. It would be bad to let SB draw for free if villain checks through with 77, A7s, T9s, 87s, 76s, AT, AJ, etc.

My notes now read cc with any pair. Villain flashed me 66 after the river.
