I called his raise and check/called the river. I was hoping for a lower PP, but thought he might have QJ or J10 sooted. He showed AJ offsuit.

What a terrible limp.
This is the kind of hand that after the check-raise I wait a bit to think about it and have absolutely no idea what to do. A 17/8 player limps something from EP on a very dry flop, and check-raises the river. The only thing that makes sence is something with a Jack or a 7even involved or a lower pocket pair. What's his AF like? If he's aggressive, and I've seen him doing this with smaller pocket pairs, I'd call down. A bit passive, and I think I could find a fold.
