Re: Call down?
This is the third example I've read today of someone overplaying a middle pair before the flop.
Did Mason change the hand rankings or something? TT is not a 3-betting hand in most situations. This is not unsimilar to the 99 hand posted in another thread. It's hard to know what would happen if you just called, but you can't possibly be happy to get capped when you have TT. Anyway, you should have bet the flop, in case you have the best hand. You might win the pot then and there, and if not, you're putting a lot of heat on hands like AK and JJ. Check-calling doesn't give your opponents a chance to fold and doesn't give you any chance to find out where you stand, and if you check you also risk giving up a free card. Note that betting the flop is somewhat more likely to succeed if you don't 3-bet preflop. The pot is smaller, making it less likely that your opponents will call with a non-pair, and they will be less reluctant to put you on AQ, KQ, or QJ--hands that are often raised but not so often reraised.
