Against an unknown at Party .5/1 I don't like the turn bet. Take your free card. That being said you have to bet the river after you bet the turn.

The way you got there, the river looks like a check. He doesn't have an ace but he was already calling down with a pair -- the second ace nearly guarantees he'll call the river, and the only hand he can have based on the action that you want him to fold is K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].

Check behind(or call due to him not checkign to you now you called the flop) on the turn.
Fold River UI.

Just my 2cents from .50/1 party player

1. he gets the chance to fold the winning hand
2. we have a pretty huge draw here with 4 spades and a gutshot.

against an unknown guy, just take the free card, but if i know he's a little tight and if i've ever seen him bet and fold to a raise or do anything like that, i can dig betting the turn.

I suppose its ok for me to answer since I played the hand right?

I raised the flop since I have many outs and if he doesn't have an A he'll be hard pressed to call down IMO. I did NOT raise the flop for a free card, I raised for folding equity both now and on the turn.

Therefore, I believe the turn bet to be mandatory whether I improve or not. Many, I would say most, .5/1 players won't fold the flop after putting a bet in HU, they wait for the turn. Once he raises preflop, fails to 3-bet an Ace high flop, and checks the turn to me I think there is an EXCELLENT chance he is going to fold his medium pocket pair or K-high hand to a turn bet.

Once he calls the turn however, the river bet seems to have much more dubious chances of taking down the pot since very few players will fold an underpair at this point. I seem to have little chance of folding a better hand.

As I see it after the flop raise:
-turn bet, mandatory.
-river bet... not so much.
