Default Simple J10 off suit hand.

I think this is actually a really simple hand, but it caused some controversy at the local card room. 10-20 live action game at the local am vets. pretty tough game this night 3 real good players. 4 mediocre and 2 real bad players. 9 handed.

Hero is in BB with j-10 offsuit. im MP1

Preflop
utg calls (loose player), mp1 raises (ME), mp2 cold calls (bad player on this night), sb calls, bb calls, utg calls.

Flop comes 10-3-7
Sb checks, BB?

Before i finish action here was where one guy had a lot of controversy about the action.

Should the BB lead into the preflop raiser here with top pair?

I'm just a lowly micro/small stakes player, but I think that you should consider position to the pre-flop raiser when making this decision. Since he is to your left, I would bet into him and hope he raised in order to clear out some of the dead weight. If he was, say, on the button, you could put up the argument for check raise, also with the intent to protect your hand.

Yes, the BB leading into the preflop raiser is a fine and probably the best play. I can't figure out what would have caused so much controversy here no matter how he played it.

Your raise is simply awful. Wretched. I am going to do something I hate to see, but unless you have lots of money you should not be playing in this game. Spend lots of time reading these fora.

What cards do you have? In the future, make your post as if you're the hero... it makes it much easier to understand, or just call yourself the hero and him the player in question or something. maybe its just me but the way you wrote it is completely confusing. Yea sorry about the confusing nature of the post.
I had Queens so bb was screwed.
I thought it was easily the right play to lead out by BB.
one of the other players in the hand argued about it so i figured id post it and see the response.

anyway i raise in mp1 folds to BB who calls, and UTG calls.

turn brings a blank, BB checsk, utg bets, i raise, BB folds, utg calls.

UTg check calls the river and shows Ace 10. i win with queens.

j-10 was beat in 2 places. UTG played his had wierd/terrible.

Ah, okay, I thought you raised preflop with JTo. Sorry.

I agree that betting out and hoping the preflop raiser will jack up overcards is the best play.

hi blake

betting out into the MP1 pre-flop raiser is the only thing that he can do. he can't check.
