Thinking of becoming a casino dealer
Is this a worth wild career move?
They get paid mw, and make their living off tips. But how much is that? They also share their tips. What about poker dealers? I mean, are they seperated from the blackjack and crap's tips? Can it be part time? I am also considering a dealer school first. |

That's no problem. I live not too far from one.
How long would you think that'd take? 6 months or so? |

Also think about your health. If you become a poker dealer, you're alright. But if you deal any other casino games, your lungs are in for it.

I don't mind eating double quarter pounders all the time but that doesn't change the fact it'll kill me eventually... even tho I don't mind them. |

Re: Thinking of becoming a casino dealer
I dealt blackjack and a few other table games, and the job is incredibly easy for the amount of money you get paid. I made $14/hour after tips at the time (I worked in Missouri, which I think is on the low end of the pay scale).
The job mostly consisted of pretending to care about belligerent drunks and the one or two hundred dollars they just lost. The work itself is easy, but the mental toll it takes on a person, seeing the worst of society day in and day out was pretty extreme. I've played a lot of poker in casinos as well, but it's a lot easier to block out a lot of the misery and despair when you're not being paid to deal with it. I stayed there for 6 months before quitting. At the end, it felt like I was living in a world filled with mean-spirited, dellusional, selfish people and I had to get out. For a college student working on a mostly useless degree, it was an interesting job while it lasted, and I'm glad to be able to say I did it. |
