AK Check-Up
Poker Stars, low buy-in tourney
Villian (t1700) MP1 (t1400) CO (t2000) Hero (t3100) Blinds 75/150, About 250 left out of 800 Relevant info Villian is a LAG pf with poor post floop decision making skills. He has raised utg+1 with powerhouses such as K8o and called off all of his chips to big re-raises with A6s and the like. CO is newer to the table. He just pushed on the last hand with a couple of limpers and took the pot down uncontested. Villian raises from UTG+2 to t450, MP 1 calls t450, CO pushes for t2000 and hero is on the button with AK. I have good control of my table, as it is generally passive with the exception of the LAG, who is very predictable. The range on the CO includes AQ and maybe(but probably not) AJs/AJ on the far end of a frustrated/isolation play. My move should be? Thanks- |

Re: AK Check-Up
I disagree. If you have good control over your table and have reads on players (especially LAG), you should fold and just build your stacks by outplaying opponents, not racing with them. Fold and take advantage of LAG in other hands. Also risking 65% of your stack with AK is not the way to "safely" build up your stack.

Push. Gavin [/ QUOTE ] Gavin, I am very interested to know why this is a push? Wouldn't this be an easy fold? I know Co just made a play and that original raises is a huge LAG, but mp just called off 1/3 of his stack. At best wouldn't this be in a coin flip situation here? thanks |

Re: AK Check-Up
I guess it's just a gut feeling for me here. Looks like an isolation play by the CO and I think you're way ahead here alot more often than most people would think. I don't necessarily have "clear reasoning" on this.

Re: AK Check-Up
For those that are interested...
My equity appears to be about ~40% against CO: AA-77, AKs-AJs, AK-AJ Villian: Random Hand (which I expected him to call with) Any problems with the range? Anybody change their mind? Thanks- |

Re: AK Check-Up
i think the PFR's range is tighter than random (duh) and the 2nd pusher will sometimes have a garbage hand like 33 or A6. i'd add in a few more hands for him.
40% in a 3-way pot is a nice overlay. |

(duh) [/ QUOTE ] Lazy maybe (in as much as entering all the probable hands wouldn't yield a much different result, for the time invested), but "duh" is just harsh. Re: AK Check-Up
if CO has been aroudn long enough to see villain's fishiness, it's an easy push.
if not, still push, especially given that CO pushes last hand. |
