Default Top 2

1/2 NL 10-handed $150 stacks...villain is standard and on the button.

I have TcJd from CO.

PREFLOP: MP1 raises to $4, HERO calls, Villain calls, SB calls, BB calls. 5-handed.

($20) FLOP: 10h 3d Jc
SB checks, BB checks, MP1 checks, HERO bets $14, Villain raises to $40...folded around, HERO calls.

($100) TURN: 10h 3d Jc 6s
HERO checks, Villain bets $40, HERO goes all-in $106

Results:

HERO (10cJd)
Villain (3s3c)
Villain wins $246

Other than fold pre-flop with JTo (which would have been fine), I also get stacked with top 2 vs a set. The other day I lost with AK vs. 44 on an A4K board. It happens.

i'd be somewhat worried....i'd be more comfortable against the preflop raiser here than someone that just called the raise. He either decided to get tricky with AA or he called the raise with 33 hoping to set up. I really don't think it could be anything else other than those 2 hands, or JT.

33 is the only hand villain is likely to have that beats you. Not even your avatar could fold this hand.

Fold most hands pre-flop when you will have to act immediately after the raiser for the rest of the hand. You should really only be playing hands that are strong enough to re-raise in the position. Your pre-flop call set up a situation where a smaller pair has a good reason to call and try for a set.

I have lost all my money with top 2 vs. set on similar boards, and I'm sure I will again. Nothing wrong with that.
