Default Flopping two pair on monotone draw heavy board

First hand at table (this is my posted hand). Anyone playing this any different? Perhaps I should have bet slightly more on the flop(I thought I bet pot size, but apparently not)? I think I typically over bet these kinds of flops. This is just one of those multi-way pots that you obviously don't want to sink too much money in. Comments appreciated.

PokerRoom No-Limit Hold'em, $2 BB (8 handed) converter

UTG ($160.00)

BB checks, UTG+1 checks, Hero bets $5, CO folds, BB folds, UTG+1 calls $5.

I think $8 is better here.

Turn: ($16.50) 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
UTG+1 checks, Hero checks.

I'm prepared to shutdown against a table of unknowns.

River: ($16.50) 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
UTG+1 checks, Hero bets $6, UTG+1 calls $6.

Rivers checked to me though. It's either a small flush or a weak hand. Small value bet, or auto check? AJ, AQ paying me here no? I really don't know if someone is limping these hands or not of course.
Final Pot: $28.50

Bet the turn and fold to a raise.

Why do I want to put more money in here against an unknown who check/called a mutli-way limped pot? Not too many people will draw to an Ax here because I think most people know that 4 suit boards rarely pay off. I don't mind giving up the pot if another spade hits on the turn. I also don't mind using my position to push the river if another Q or J hits.
