Default Sox sign Seanez

Yeah, yeah I know, who cares?

However, Rudy was the 3rd best reliver in the NL last year when judged by FIP (fielding independent pitching) and to be honest, thats the best indicator or a pitchers worth (mostly going forward). The downside is he is 37 and injury prone, however has had back to back years with 46 and 60 IP.

1 year, 1.9m

Yet another very solid deal by the Red Sox.

I wish I followed this stuff more closely so I could get excited on my own about it. However, I shall take your word that the Sox have made yet another solid deal.

woot.

for example:

04/05 stats

billy wagner

125.3 IP's 11HR 146K 31BB/HBP

signed a deal for 11m a year for 4 years

seanez

106.3IP 7HR 130K 43BB/HBP

signed a deal for 1.9m

now obviously, wagner is a better bet to perform at that level due to having a larger sample size and being younger. however the red sox get seanez at less than 1/5th (for 2005) the cost and no commitment (other than some cheap 06 option) beyond this year.

that should show pretty easily why the deal is very good. better than taking my word for it anyway

Sublime. The name sounds familiar. Didn't we have this guy once before?

nothing. he will be the closer until someone else proves they are better.

foulke was arguably the best relief pitcher of this decade until last season. considering he was hurt, people should cut him a little slack.
