Default limping to steal

(the opposite of 3betting a decent/tight player who raises in MP or CO while OTB in order to take the pot from him. Well players willing to fold this works)

6max (even 5handed).

MP or CO limps a lot, raises most good hands, but limps a lot of trash. Hes really so-so postflop, mostly bleh...you usually have control over him. Anyway, u are on the button. He again limps. I usually limp a assorted amount of trash hands here (that sometimes seem to weak to raise) in order to float or steal bet the flop (maybe Im just better off raising/folding J8o instead).

Does anybody do this? If u do, how low do u go? Or should I be folding/raising almost anything instead. (we are talking some real weak sauce hands. J8o-J7o, 98o-67o, 97o some weak offsuit aces occasionally.) So cleary not great hands.

Maybe this is better left suited for being in the sb. Let me know. On a side not it seems to be doing well over a small sample since I started (means less than crap I know).

PS. In the sb, I know Ciaffone loves to do this in super short pots, ones that usually have 2 other players at most.

EDIT: I just realized this question kind of retarded as the whole point is u are limping to steal, but Im not limping 92o here, I want to limp hoping to steal, but at the same time have a hand that will occasionally flop maybe even less than something. Either way, Im just trying to get a discussion started on this idea and whether its worthwhile or rather costly.

Default Re: limping to steal

If the blinds are tight, I think I would rather isolate with almost any hand I am playing. Once the blinds are loose, and less likely to fold, I will start overlimping 22, 87s, QJ. Those are just baselines, and I may tighten up, or loosen up depending on circumstances. If the blind are loose, but agressive, I tighten up my limping standards substantially, because I really don't want to pay 2 SB preflop with a lot of those.
