Default NL50 6 handed

No reads, just got to the table hoping to alleviate some boredom of studying.

Villian has 38, hero covers

Villian calls on the button, Hero calls in the sb with 77, bb checks

Dealing Flop 7c, Ts, 7s
Hero checks, Villian bets 1.40, bb folds, hero calls.

Turn: 10

Hero checks, Villian checks

River: Hero? Push or lead out? I'm 90% sure villian has a 10.

Edit--whoops, by lead out I meant value bet (which would be about 4 bucks).

I lead here, hopefully having villian push back at me.

As played I lead river, assuming he will raise and then you can push over the top. I don't like the turn check however b/c ur flop call didnt show any strength he might slowplay after he fills up hoping you can hit something on the river.

I lead the turn and river. You probably won't get any money out of him if he doesn't have a boat, but if he does you will get it all. I think a common mistake that some players make (including me sometimes) is to slow down with a big hand. Part of the reason you play aggressively with moderate hands is to set up aggressive play with big hands.

Default Results/Thoughts

I bet 5 bucks expecting him to raise me, but he called with AT???

His play here was obviously very bad. I think leading for a pot-sized bet is the best move unless I have a LAG image. The reason being, if I push, that's the only way he can convince himself to get away from the hand (ie- the logic of risking 32 to win 5).

this is a clear push on the river. the only hands that call you are overpairs that think you might be bluffing or hands that have a 10 in them....if they have a 10, why would you value bet less than a push...they are willing to call any bet size here, so let them call a push. Betting less is letting them off cheap. I would have pushed that river 100 times out of 100.

Bet the turn with plans to push the river. Sometimes you can give a free card if you think a worse hand will bluff the river, but in this case, villain has to have a hand if you are going to get paid.

Why did you check the turn? I pot it and if called I think he'll call a river push.

Um because if they will call a value bet they'll also call a push with a 10, and because the push looks more like a bluff to someone with AA than a value bet does? My point is really we are sure he's got a 10, he won't fold to a push, so you push....that simple...why bet 10 hoping he'll raise.....if he's going to raise he'll call a push, why risk that he might just call.
