Default Power Hour -> Desert Diamond ... dumbest idea ever???

Well just a heads up to anyone who wants to meet a drunk, asinine 2+2er in his B&M debut.

For those in Tucson, I am doing the power hour at some divey ass bar like Meet Rack and then heading to the diamond to play some 2/4 or 3/6 or PLO8 or whatever the [censored] they spread.

Feel free to join in and take my money. Will post a trip report in the AM if Im still alive

Default Power Hour + Poker Trip report

So I started at Meet Rack, got 4 or 5 drinks bought for me, in probably the worst order imaginable... big shot, big shot, milk shot, 32 oz beer.
I am a skinny guy and that much liquid in my stomach made me sick, so I had to start from scratch after that, which was embarassing.

We went to a 2nd dive-ass bar and I got a screwdriver with about 5 oz of [censored] vodka and a splash of OJ in it, followed by 2 jack and cokes with similar measurements. We finished off with a pitcher of beer and my stomach was ridiculously full again so most of it came up after about 30 minutes.

All the folks out with me were extremely dissapointed in me, and I felt like a failure myself, afterall, I wasnt even drunk, just had a tiny bitch stomach that didnt agree with the stuff being put in it.

After this its about 2 AM, we ride back to the house and I volunteer to drive to get some [censored] mexican food because Im the most sober of the group... (sad, I know)

So after [censored] mexican me and one other guy decide we're gonna go play some cards. We hit up a place we thought had poker, only to find that it is a little hole in the wall with lines of slot machines and nothing else, with about 5 people playing them while half asleep, it was pretty pathetic and sad. So we went to Casino del Sol for poker, I was pleasantly surprised by how big it was; I figured indian casinos werent that big or nice inside.

We finally found the poker room after wandering around and asking a few people in the cage where the hell we were going. There were about 10 tables, only 2 running, both were 3/6 with a kill. We each only brought like 100 cause we're poor and in college, so we get a rack a piece and sit down. I have a 90 VPIP calling station to my right, a decent player to my left, and a couple of loose passive spread around an easy table. I win a couple pots with overpairs to the board, TPTK, nothing exciting. I lost a big one when I flopped a set and some guy hit a flush draw on the river, and another when K5 flopped 2 pair and ran into a set. I was playing the least hands at the table, and Im pretty sure people respected my bets and raises. I hovered between .6 and 1.8 racks in about 3 hours, and towards the end started spewing by playing too many hands cause I was tired and bored.

One thing I noticed was that I want to be a dealer. The dealers didnt seem like anything special, most of them knew all the players at the table, because alot of them were dealers themselves. Despite this, they got tipped an average of 2-3 dollars on any pot over 30ish, and up to 5 or 6 on 10 BB pots. Id say they made at least 40 dollars an hour.

The toke and rake were pretty intense, 3 bucks or so out of any pot over 5 BB... but I wasnt paying all that much attention, I was just trying to play solid poker and figure out how the hell the blinds work when people join the table (two big blinds or some similar crap)... or when there is a kill pot, neither of which I had encountered before.

I ended up 26 dollars after 3 hours, my buddy was stuck for a rack and a half and had busted out, I felt bad. So we got up and on the way to cashout decided Id dick around on blackjack. Put 13 of my 26 down, got a 9 and a 2, threw the other 13 on, and what do ya know, a 10 came up and I doubled my profit on the night.

All in all I enjoyed my night, I wish the people at the tables were more friendly, no one said a [censored] word except to complain or berate another player or the dealer.

I also wish my stomach would have played along more, I guess I should have pounded grapes the night before or whatever that hot dog eating japanese guy does.

Welcome to graveyard poker in Tucson.

BTW, I don't know where you live, but regardless, the Diamond is almost certainly closer to you.
