Default What do overbets usually mean in online tourneys?

In general are people making overbets trying to steal, or do they have it? I imagine it depends on the skill of the player... Any thoughts?

it also depends on the situation. Usually it's just top pair

Ive also seen it done with 2nd pair, and sometimes straight or flush draws. Its not usually the stone-cold nuts......at least thats from my observations.

you can't generalize the meaning of the overbet...so many noobs overbet with TPTK or an overpair to protect their hand, good players overbet with nothing, it's very difficult to just say Overbet = X.

IMO the tighter the player the more it means. Of course I play lower limits 25-less. Really weak tight kinds usually overbet when the have a big hand and wild players will do it with any holding

i've found that a bet of a little more than the pot on a monosuit board is almost always a made hand, generally top pair or better.
