Default iPod video question

I had an iRiver MP3 player I bought exactly 3 weeks ago that I hated (I posted a thread when I first got it about how much I loved it, then how much I hated it)

I exhanged it yesterday for a 60 GB iPod Video. So here is the question-- how the hell do I get videos on it. I was under the impression that I could load my avi or mpeg files onto it, but iTunes will not import these.

Did I spend an extra $100 for a video player that only plays $2 music videos from apple? If so I am very pissed off.

However, I would look into hacking the iPod, 'cause there's a way to make it play AVIs I believe.

How good is the video you have viewed on your new ipod? I have never wanted an ipod until I saw these new ones.

The video is very nice and it also looks pretty damned nice whenever you hook it up to a TV and output it. When I say pretty nice, I mean it looks like normal TV on a tube does.

That said, I'd just get a wide photo 'cause you don't really use the video feature all that often.
