What do we think of lstreams 4th street play in the 1st hand?

i don't fully get his 3rd or 4th street play in the first hand.

I like 3rd, he gets an opportunity to get heads up with the maniac. Unfortunately the bring in called... no big deal tho.

However, on 4th street, I don't see the bring in folding any hand here. I also don't see the bring in having all that many hands that we can beat. I think the pot is still relatively small, we most likely do not have an edge, and I think following the mantra of "don't call a bet that can't support a raise behind it" would be good advice to heed.

If you want to make a play to knock out the bring in, this has to be done on 5th street.

At this point seat 8 was completing every single hand. There were two tens in front of me. I knew I was ahead of seat 8, and the bet on third was to take my shot at a heads up pot. I wanted to avoid one of the tens catching on me, and figured I had a shot by making them cold call two bets.

On fourth, the raise was another shot at driving out the BI in case he was sitting there with a pair plus three flush, which I thought was a good possibility. People were playing against the maniac with crap by then, so I figured there was a good chance I was not really up against a four flush.

Although opponents like this are incredibly valuable, I must admit I do still think about the alcohol/drug abuse and/or gambling addiction on the other side of the ether.

Doesn't stop me from putting them on my buddy list, though.

I was thinking the same thing about alcohol or even worse. These two hands were just a small sample size of what was happening. I doubt he will be around for much longer. He was a little difficult to sympathize with, because he was taunting other players about THEIR horrible play.
