Default Getting aggro in a $50

No strong read on villain, he'd been playing at least somewhat tight (we're only 20 hands in).
I'd been playing quite tight.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t50 (8 handed) converter

MP2 (t1795)
CO (t855)
Hero (t1305)
SB (t695)
BB (t1548)
UTG (t1617)
UTG+1 (t935)
MP1 (t1250)

Preflop: Hero is Button with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
5 folds, Hero raises to t150, 1 fold, BB (thinks for about 8 seconds and) calls t100.

Flop: (t325) 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
BB bets t400
Hero is all in (t1155)

It was clear that he wanted me out of the pot and was uneasy about his hand (77/JT maybe). So it logically follows that I push. All good?

Everett

I think you're getting carried away here. You might be right, but I'd fold on the flop.

Well, do you think he could be betting many stronger hands like this, or that he won't release his marginal ones, or both?

I think he'll call with any jack or flush draw.

problen is that you do not have enough chips to push him out if he is on a drawing hand.

I'll elaborate. A bet that is larger than the size of the pot is often protecting a vulnerable hand. I think a bet of this size is unlikely to be a probe bet. AJ is my best guess.

I fold here. He is going to call your all-in.

Do you call with KJ here? QJ? JT?

AJ is a very valid concern. And since most players aren't the type to make strong probe bets like this, 77ish hands can be somewhat discounted. An unfoldable A-high diamond draw is also possible but there are far fewer combos of that than one pair hands. Perhaps 1200 isn't enough to convince him to fold a non-premium jack.

What if we'd both had 1800ish chips on the flop instead of 1200? I think in that case he can get away from almost all of his possible holdings save AJ.

P.S. Results: I got called pretty quickly by QJc and proceeded to runner runner a K high flush. I play g00t.

Just because you wouldn't, doesn't mean he won't.

First read i thought the flop was three diamonds and I thought everyone was crazy talking through this hand - easy push with a likely 15 clean outs and 1.28-1 assuming I'm called.

Finally caught that it was only a flopped threeflush. I think you're up against a jack or a fourflush with this overbet and I'm going to fold the flop.
