Best monitor for multi tabling

Hi, I'm playing 4 tables on a cronky old monitor and need to get a new monitor, quick (It's killing my eyes!!). In the future, I'm planning on playing more tables. My instinct would be to get a TFT flat screen, but I've read that CRT have more screen resolution. I have a limited budget of around $300. Any ideas on what are the best monitor models to multi table. Thanks for your time.

This has been discussed ad nauseum, but the 2001FP is best. There is a thread that has coupons to get it for 439. You won't do better than that.

It isn't the best. But it has a good price for a 20" lcd monitor.

I'd take a pair of high end Eizos over my Dells any day. But when it comes to price/performance, the Dells do fine.

Take a look at the Samsung 213t or 214t. Both are 21.3". The have the same resolution as the Dell, but since it's a little larger, the text and the suits of the cards are easier to read.

My Samsung 204T is a great monitor, far better picture quality than a 2001fp (IMO) w/ the same resolution. Works good for games too. You pay a bit more than a 2001fp, but if you're on your computer alot, and use it for more than just poker, it's a better deal IMO.

The new 214T is supposed to be good as well, faster response time than my 204T and an extra inch of space (21" vs. 20") - however same resolution.

The 213T is very old, and has much slower response time (and poorer colors & contrast), not worth buying.

Check out OfficeMax. They have 19" StarLogic flat CRT's for $159. They are 1600x1200 and have a decent refresh rate. You should be able to pick them up locally, but here's a link:

I have had 2 of these for awhile. My sessions usually last anywhere from 4-8 hours and I have had zero problems with eyestrain.

You really dont want a CRT that does 1600x1200 and costs the same as the $429 dell deal. The refresh rate will be horrible and will give you migranes within an hour of staring at it. For instance, a 21 inch Viewsonic G220f will give you 1600x1200 at 87hz (about the lowest refresh rate I'd go with for a 21" monitor) will cost you about $500 with shipping, and may still cause eyestrain and headaches. I have a P225f that will go up to 100hz at 1600x1200 and that was a couple hundred more. Of course you can get really good bargains for refurbished or "recertified" CRTs but thats like playing Russian roulette.

Edit: Uhg, that 75hz on that Starlogic would just kill me after about 30 minutes. Tolerances differ.
