Default Check Check Check

Only had 16 hands on villian, but so far he had not seen a flop so it is a good assumption he was tight.

am I correct in assuming you would have folded to a turn bet?

It looks fine to me, I dont see a point in betting the river (or checkraising the flop)

He really can't have anything that beats you other than JJ or TT, even those will often bet the turn and check behind the river. I'd bet the river. Even the tighties can have 77 or AJs here and call. For the most part people don't check behind on the turn without an intent to get to showdown after showing that much agression.

he couldnt have checked behind the turn because he either gave up, or wanted the free card with his AJs (thats a really narrow range for hands you beat BTW) but intends to fold the river because on that board there isnt much you would be holding that he beats? If hes got AJ you have to have pretty much exactly AT for him to want to call, and even if hes got 77, I dont think he calls here alot, if hes half way observant he knows you didnt call that flop with AJ or AT, and any other hand excet for manybe 66 got there.

I think you're giving too much credit to a guy we know almost nothing about.

Hes tight, thats something at the very least

but even if I gave him zero credit as a player, I still dont see alot of good from a river bet. If hes bad enough to call with AJ, hes bad enough to check behind TT and QJ

I'm not sure what kind of assumptions we can make after 16 hands, but I'm pretty sure you still played it perfectly.

A little early for *you* and A9o, no?

I like Alobars reasoning postflop.

I was expecting to get lambasted for not raising the flop and/or not betting the turn and/or not betting the river. I wrote down in my journal, "Played this hand terribly, post to 2+2."

Results orientated maybe?

Me personally, I shell up when 3-bet and OOP with questionable hands.
