Default Full HH of bubble from a $109 (longish) - several interesting hands

Played a long an interesting bubble yesterday in a $109+$5 Turbo on Stars. I started fairly shortstacked, and had a number of very close/interesting decisions in the 18 hands it took to decide this. Note codewarrior is on my left, so I know he’s solid and generally how he thinks. Both of the other two players were unknown to me, but it didn’t take long to learn some of their tendencies. I don’t think I used the knowledge I gained about them very well though.

Interesting hands are #5, #6, #13, #14, and #18. I think I botched #6 in hindsight. #14 didn’t feel quite right, but I can’t think of a line I like better. Do any of the higher limit regulars fold #18? I’m not particularly regretting that one. Though it’s noteworthy that the player on my right folded his SB to me in hands #9 and #17, so it’s possible that he’d do it again in the future. That’s the only argument I can see that would even start to move #18 towards a fold.

I think #16 is pretty interesting too, though I wasn’t involved in that one. I’d like to know what codewarrior had. Seemed like a strange play from him. (Maybe he'll share?)

Here you go - I generally don't like to post anything resembling a full hand history, but I thought this would be educational for some of the lower limit players, and there were a few decent hands to debate. Enjoy!

I think the hand you busted on was clearly correct. I would have raised this hand when you were in BB with KJo and the SB limped...I would have raised to like 600-650 there.

This is a weak laydown IMO. If the BB is really tricky like you say I'de probably just open push.

That was the one hand that I had to think for a little while before I acted. I think BB pushes over a "standard" raise of 600-800 with very liberal holdings, as he knows how to play the bubble. I'd be in a real tough spot there. If I had less than anywhere up to, say, 2300-2400 or so, I certainly would've open-pushed. I thought 2700+ was risking a little too much for the reward, especially with the other shortish stack in there who I didn't think was playing particularly well. After about 10 seconds of thought, I was like "F*** it. I'll just fold. Nothing lost."

That was the hand I "struggled" most with though. And like I said in the opening, I think I botched that one.

He knows you aren't bluffing, so he is probably going to be folding things like 77,88, maybe 99. Even if he isn't, pushing is still marginally +EV according to SNGPT.

I agree, that was a weak laydown. Terp, which hand were you not involved in that you thought was interesting? I don't think you meant the one you said in the OP.

I don't like folding KJ UTG in #12. Would you like to explain why you folded here? I assume that this is because of short SB and monster BB? By raising to 3xBB you allow the monster stack to bully you by reraising, but without reads can you really assume that he's cabable of such a move? At least in a 50+5 the average opponent has no idea about how to exploit their big stack on the bubble, and I would raise here every time with such a strong hand.

In Hand #16, you limped from the button, bet the flop, called a min-bet on the turn (presumably he flopped top pair or something and you had a draw), then you folded the river to another min-bet. Ace-little of clubs or something? I'd think you'd raise that preflop though.

If that is your feeling, then you should limp. Sometimes a limp is a scarier than a raise and your opponent will just check the BB. If he does check, then bet around one-half to two-thirds of the pot on the flop unless you flop a set. If your opponent makes a small raise after you limp you can call that. If he makes a big raise then fold. Your hand is simply too good to open-fold and your stack is large enough that limp-fold is not a disaster.
