Default MTT sanity check

90+ person tourney down to last 10 players (pays 9 places) combining to final table after this hand. I'm probably 7th in chips maybe 3 outta the 5 left at my table. blinds 3k and 1.5k for small. Its folded around to me on the button with A6d. I have about 10k in chips, sb is large stack who likes to be in most posts but only if he can limp, bb has about 8k and already been all-in with 36off and slurped out a straight. I push all-in, sb immediately drops, and bb calls with 28off. I sit there speechless and dumbfounded as an 8 falls on the turn or river can't remember which.

Would anybody play this different? If I pick up the blinds I'm probably about 5th in chips....if luckbox loses I'm up to 3rd or 4th at least with a very good shot at winning.

You have 3 bbs, this is an easy push given the information you gave. You probably should have pushed earlier and not gotten this low, but whatever. BB is an idiot.

easy push. shoulda pushed earlier before u got to 10K.

also, the BB's call is fine. half of his stack had been posted in the BB, so he pretty much has to call with any two in this spot, hoping he has live cards, which he did.

he was also getting a little over 2:1 on his money, making the easier to do if it hadnt been already

Thanks for the replies guys. It was just one of those days for me. Didn't make a single bad call the whole tourney...came out on the wrong end of 3 hands all of which I was at least 2:1 favorite once the chips were in the pot. I still managed to finish just inside the money at 8th but it was disappointing of course.

I disagree that the BBs call wasnt bad. Maybe he's getting the right pot odds to win the chips in the pot... but this isn't a cash game, its a tournament situation. With ten left and 9 paying out, putting your whole stack in to call a raise with 82o? Its only a good move if you don't like money or winning... or fun.

Easy fold for BB, wait for somebody else to get knocked out, or push and steal blinds when you can be first in.

Oh, and to the OP, you did nothing wrong. To not push your A6s here would be almost as bad as calling with 82o.

I kind of see how it was a good call for him but he wasn't even the low stack at the time and obviously if I came out on the winning side of it I would have been more than happy to shake his hand on the way out. Having only played in two live tournaments at casinos, I know I'm not that experienced in them. I just wanted to make sure I did the right thing by not passively laying it down and taking my chips to the final table. I was playing to win and if I took down the pot I would have been at the final table with 1/6th of the chips in play. Thanks for the replies.
