Now I get it.

Anyways... it would count for the opponent using two whole cards? Is it because he can technically choose which of the two nines he wants to play?

Unless I misunderstood your reply, No you don't get it.

The OP has to have both of his hole cards play and He can't beat the nine on the board. His eight doesn't play so the hand doesn't qualify for a bad beat jackpot hand.

Yeah I think pshreck is saying that on a board of AAA9x a hand of pocket nines only has one 9 playing, though you could possibly say that you are using your two 9s and not the board 9.

I was playing on Saturday and a hand came up of A8 against AK on a board of AA8K8 and the BBJ was rewarded. Here we play that if the pocket rank ties the board rank the pocket card plays, and at this cardroom Aces full of eights or better beaten gets paid. Reminded me of why I played until 5 am. The LA casinos will count both of your hole cards if you tie the board. The Indian casinos near SD won't let you. Your PP can't tie the board.

I just needed a low turn card. Yea, I know...I didn't fold, took a chance but came soooooooooooo close.
