At Taj, it is acceptable (generally) to remove $100 bills and high denomination chips from the table when you take a break. I always do this (or have my 100 bills sufficiently buried...never leave Franklins leaning against the rail so they can be quickly snatched).

I've never felt like I needed to remove my chips from the table whenever I use the restroom at the Taj.

It seems like a decent place...granted, I haven't played at any other casinos yet.

One issue I have heard confirmed by several different parties is that (like most every cash game) you do not want to leave money on the table if you get up and go somewhere (say bathroom, whatever) as the Taj is apparently notorious for "thieves" jacking your cash off the table. Take it off when you leave, and put it back on when you come back.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think that says a lot. In the rooms I've played at, this wouldn't be allowed. Hell, even in the dingy little private clubs I used to play at in toronto, I wouldn't think twice about leaving my chips on the table for a bathroom break.
What are you supposed to do, balance your rack on the urinal? I'd rather have my chips on the table in full view of the cameras...

In rooms I have played in where I felt leaving money on the table was an issue (unfortunately, there have been some, which says something...), my MO is the following:

~Buy in for the lowest amount allowed
~Put my hundreds under my chips but sticking out in plain view
~Pick up my bills when leaving the table, show them plainly to the dealer and all of the players, and make a parting remark such as, "I have 2k in hundreds, and I will bring all of it back when I return."

I have never been challenged when using this method. I won't say it's not because I am a woman. Of that, I'm not quite sure, but I do everything very out in the open, very overtly, not trying to be sneaky or hide anything.

At tables where the players seem a bit uptight, I will even make my statement slightly questioning, "...I'll bring this exact amount back to the table with me, if that is okay with everyone..."

I can't say this would work with every cardroom in every situation, but in the past three years I've been playing full-time, I have never once been challenged on it, nor have I ever abused it, I bring the exact amount back with me, not one hundred less.

I am talking cash, not chips. Leave the chips, take the cash...and put the cash back on the table when you return.

I dont know about people getting jacked in the casino. Outside maybe another story, but around the casinos is pretty safe. You might see a busted hooker or two, or a random crackhead (ahh the beautiful sites of south jersey!!!), but as far as safety I never had a problem. I have heard stories of slicers(card cheats/2-3 man teams working at the tables)at the Taj. But who knows. Bottom line, the Taj sucks it has the atmosphere of an overcrowded high school cafeteria(The appearence of the room and behavior of players), and the chips are the color mule dung. Just go to Trop. or Borgata instead.

So my wife and I should stay off the board walk after dark? I'm staying at the trop next Sunday. I was going to hit the 6:30pm tournamentat the Taj, is this a good game? First time in AC and not at the Borgata........

Take your cash, not your chips. People generally don't walk up to a table and rack up 300 chips in an attempt to steal them. People can easily walk by and pick up a banded roll of 100's without being noticed. This isn't just the Taj though, it's a good idea to take your cash with you everywhere.

The boardwalk is ok after dark as long as there are people around, IMO. If it's 4am and you have $6k in your pocket, spring for a cab. If you have a 1 mile walk and don't see anyone else out there, take a cab. If it's 10pm and you are in a busy area like the steal pier, even marginal common sense is plenty.
