You could be a little more detailed in your request. What do you play? Limit? No-Limit? Pot-Limit? Live? On-line? Micro, Small, Mid, High stakes?

The best book for poker in general is widely stated as being Theory of Poker by Sklansky.

"Play Poker Like the Pros" by Phil Hellmuth. You can't go wrong with that.
HA, HA, HA, HA oh God, HA, HA, HA.

Hi Veritas

As deacsoft said, if you can provide a bit more info. on what type of game you are interested in, then we can provide more specific recommendations.

Anyway, these are generally considered amongst the best:

The Theory of Poker- David Sklansky

Getting Started In Hold'em- Ed Miller

Internet Texas Hold'em- Matthew Hilger

Small Stakes Hold'em- Ed Miller, David Sklansky, Mason Malmuth

Hold'em Poker For Advanced Players- David Sklansky, Mason Malmuth

Harrington on Hold'em 1 and 2- Dan Harrington, Bill Robertie

Super System 2- Doyle Brunson

Pot Limit and No Limit Poker- Bob Ciaffone, Stewart Reuben

There are some other books, but these can be listed when you let us know what you are looking for.

If you play NL cash:

Super System 2

Pot Limit and no Limit Poker

If you are quite new to the game, then Getting Started In Hold'em would be a good place to begin.

If you play tournaments:

Harrington on Hold'em 1 and 2

The Little Green Book of Poker- Phil Gordon

A couple of quick notes.

1. The chapter in Super System will have to be adjusted a bit to have success at lower levels.

2. Although the book Pot Limit and No Limit Poker isn't purely dedicated to Hold'em (other games included) it is currently among the best right now for cash games.

3. Although Harrington on Hold'em is for tournament play, much of the advice can be carried forward to cash game play.

Dude,
You've made it to the 2+2 forums, so I'd guess you have a good idea of what the best books are.

He asked for good Texas Hold'em book, and Play Poker like The Pro's covers all variant's of poker

What is to be recommended is Texas Hold'em by Phil Helmuth ... you get all the Texas Hold'em gems from Play poker like the pros, which is all you ever need and the best part of play poker like the pro's

It was my first book ever, and I haven't looked back since ... It really is something out of the ordinary
