Default 5/10 NL- My Christmas Donations

5/10 NL Online 10 handed

No real reads

I have 22 in the BB and cover

2 limpers, SB completes, I check

Pot: 40
Flop: 2 J K r
check, I check (how bad is this?), checked around

Pot: 40
Turn: 4 putting 2 diamonds on the board
check, I bet 40, folded to villain (1.6kish) who raises to 80, folded to me, I make it 250, he makes it 500 I?

Some questions: If I want to play a big pot here, do I bet the flop? Once I am minraised, should I just call the turn or is there much value in reraising back? What do I do with the 2nd small raise?

I would have bet the flop, a bet from the BB here is not going to kill the action as you could very well be betting a weak king here, and you want to start building a pot with what is essentially the nuts.

On the turn I think I like calling and leading the river, since i think a 4-bet is gonna scare every hand you beat away.

Im guessing he has 44. You shouldve bet the flop.

this is stupid, he could easily have top two or have flopped a set

or he could be bluffin with the flush draw, in this case Hero's flop check looks brilliant

usually checking a drawless board is relatively harmless, but you should try to build a pot on the flop like that where someone really should have to pay off a bit with a jack or king

Which part is stupid? That I think he might have 44? Or that he shouldve bet the flop?

Preflop action was a bit unclear but I don't see how he "easily" could have flopped a set or top two? I assume most people would raise JJ/KK or KJ after a limper.

I think the "this comment is stupid" line was addressed at the fact that you dont just put your opponent on one hand, but rather a range of hands, and proceed accordingly. If KJ is in the range, which it easily could be, you should play the 22 accordingly to maxmize value against that hand.

I think your comments were made due to the title of the post, and not based on hand analysis, thus the stupid comment.

Actually I didnt even notice the "donation" part of the title until after I posted.

The "stupid" comment is uncalled for. Period. No biggie, Im used to it around here.

I didnt say he couldnt have KJ. I said it looks like 44 to me, meaning I would be very worried about 44 and wouldnt want to put a ton of money in now. If he had bet the flop, 44 would be VERY unlikely.

If he bets the flop and gets min raised, he can proceed with agression. Now hes stuck in no mans land.
