Bill King passes...
Growing up as a sports fan in the SF Bay Area, there was no finer voice to call a basketball or football game. Obit from the KNBR website |

Re: Bill King passes...
Yea I heard that on the radio today. I never met the guy and only listened to him for 5 years doing the A's broadcasts. For reasons I can't explain, the news made me really sad, like I'd lost a family friend. Very strange. Anyways, he was the best announcer I've ever heard.

[/ QUOTE ] I didn't know he also did some Giants games with Russ Hodges and Lon Simmons back in the day. KNBR was playing highlights tonight while I was on my homeward commute, and it was killing me. I grew up listening to him do the Warriors and a little bit of the Raiders, and the 2.5 game minutes of a Warrior-Sixer game from 1976 was just awesome. Holy Toledo! Rest In Peace, Bill |
