Default FFL question #1 Trades

Where was this forum back when I was running my league?

First question...

Do you like trades?

One reason we didn't allow them was the collusion aspect of it. Figured better energy spent elsewhere than worrying about that. But let's say you allow them. Is it more of a bitch to monitor and do than is worth it?

Just wondering.

I've never been in a league where trading wasn't allowed. We've always had rules against collusion, but we've never had to enforce them. In 10 years, I've never experienced a problem with it. I've made some late season playoff runs with good trades.

Trading should only be barred in big money leagues, where the incentive to collude is more than just "let's screw Tommy." It's too much fun to remove otherwise.

You guys didn't use the same trade deadline as the NFL? Which I think is the 1st 4 weeks?

I love trades. We have always had a protest vote on trades. If a majority votes no, a trade gets vetoed. In ten years of my original fantasy football league (which is now up to a $200 buy in) I've only had one trade vetoed.

No -- we've always had our own. Usually about 12 weeks or so into the season. It has bounced around a bit, but that's about right.

That's not a bad idea.
