Digital camera problem

I've read some digital photography sites, but I get lost in the jargon.

Here is a picture of a wall:



Note the reddish spot towards the top left. What say you digital photography experts? Is the camera screwed? I have a bunch of pics from 11/04 that don't have this spot, and a couple from 1/05 that do. It's been happening ever since.

It's an older Olympus (C3040Z) so I don't know if it's even worth it to get it looked at.

Anyone know what this is?
