Re: standard with ak? or spewing chips
I dont think you got "outplayed" anywhere except on the river. That was an obvious call, the rest were obvious bets. These are exactly the sort of hands that make me hate $1/$2 limit. 9 times out of 10 in NL you bet pot on the flop and he folds.

Re: standard with ak? or spewing chips
No, there is a huge difference.
For example lets say: 75% time hero is slightly ahead 25% hero is slightly beind. Raising here is a huge +EV play. Villian will probably call (and rarely reraise) almost all the time giving the hero .75BB on average. 75% hero is way way ahead. 25% hero is way way behind. Raising here is silly. Villian will fold every time he is behind and raise every time he is ahead. Hero can only loose money in this situation. Do you see how much it matters now? |

Sure probably against that exact hand you might, but then you win a very small pot 9 times and lose a big one the tenth. It's much nicer to win larger pots 2/3 of the time when they chase and hit the river. Then what happens when the guy bets back at you and you have a strong top pair that is relatively weak to the action? Fold to a possible set? two pair? bluff? How aggressive is this guy? Much tougher decision and much more costly is you make the wrong one enough. I hate that comparisson to NL |

That river raise is not a value bet.
