Is there such a thing as a Bad Game?
What makes a game a bad game. Now I've been in games where just any two cards will see the flop from 4+ people at the table and these 4+ ppl are always in. Now to me that looks like a dream table but recent turn of events for me, is making me possibly reconsider.
Can someone please define a bad game for me because it just seems lately my dream games(that I think I am in) I have been in have been just raping me. All thoughts and comments are appriciated. Ed S. |

Re: Is there such a thing as a Bad Game?
The table you describe is a dream table, you just have to adjust the way you play to take full advantage of it.
A bad table is one where everyone is tight and aggresive. |

Not sure if I understand fully, but this seems pretty obvious to me: A bad game is a game full of better players than you, while a good game is just the opposite.

What makes a game a bad game. [/ QUOTE ] A game where you can't make money. This occurs when people are better than you, or equal to you, assuming a rake. If you're playing headsup with Phil Ivey, that's a bad game. |

Re: Is there such a thing as a Bad Game?
You know you're in a bad game when
1) no one open limps, they always raise 2) no one ever cold calls, they 3 bet or fold 3) The only time you see a flop is when the Big Blind calls Interestingly enough, you know you're not playing your best when you 1) limp first in, 2) cold call, 3) see too many flops. |

Re: Is there such a thing as a Bad Game?
A very thinly veiled 'I'm having trouble beating loose games' post.
Great games = bigger swings. Just because you're in a dream game doesn't mean you're guaranteed to be the winner every session. You may not win for quite a few sessions. Firstly, look into your own play to make sure it's up to par. The game you described isn't anywhere near the ballparks' parking lot of a bad game. b |

"Can someone please define a bad game for me."
The relative badnessness of games can be precisely determined by this formula: Take the total number of chopped blinds per hour and times it by two. Then add the total preflop openraises per hour. Take that number and divide it by how you feel about yourself at the time, on a scale of 1-10, with 1 the lowest. The bigger the result, the worse the game is. |

Re: Is there such a thing as a Bad Game?
Get this.4-8 game
Seat 1--Faststan Seat 2--Older Man-I keep telling him not to show me his cards. Seat 3--his friend--see his cards too. Seat 4--young guy--just a very bad player. Seat 5-the raiser--in 90% of hands-raises 90% of hands. Seat5 and 6--two rich oriental ladies-take $50. out of their purse at least 12 times.call every hand to end if any possibilities.Beat my 3 Q's with a straight with 3,5o and massive celebrations after win. Seat 6--straddles 1 in 5 or 6 hands and does not look at cards till the river. Seat 7,8,9--very,very bad calling stations. Seat 10--complains about everything. I have only been playing for 3 months. I think I am very good for a beginner(expert at BJ) thanks to all of you. 2 losses of about $500.Cannot wait to get back to the casino. |

[/ QUOTE ] Why is it everyone likes to throw out that line "you just have to adjust the way you play...", but no one clarifies how to do that? "adjusting" to the very very loose games is much tougher than most people make it out to be, especially some of the games that play 12-handed and uber-loose. I also find that most people who make the above "adjustment" statement, have no clue how to actually make those adjustments. |
