Now that I attend Central Michigan University, Im pretty much a regular at the Soaring Eagle poker room in the 3/6 game and sometimes the 6/12 game. I usually am there 3-4 nights a week.

Speaking on the quality of the poker room and the games;

I find the games to be very soft and easy. Just last night I was there and my table was 5-6 to the flop mostly and very passive.

Since I am only 18, I have never played in any other live poker rooms, so my opinions on the quality of service, etc. May be lack validity, since I have nothing else to compare it too...

At any rate, I find the room to be run fairly efficiently, the list is kept in an orderly manner and any altercations with the floor at my tables have been handled correctly and promptly. Drink service is very prompt as well. My only complaints are that some of the dealers deal painfully slow (There are some great dealers there though, Daniel and Andy come to mind) and sometimes it takes a long time to fill seats at the table, even when the list is very long. The room itself is pretty "cozy" and well lit. However it is a smoking room (blah!), and the chips sometimes are a little dirty and sticky.

All in all, I enjoy playing at the Soaring Eagle, and the games are seemingly very good.

In fact, I was just there last night playing 3/6 and had an awesome and profitable night

Basically, I enjoy the Eagle and I would reccomend it to people if they are looking to paly poker and in the "Mid-michigan area." I don't know if it is worth making the drive over the downtown casinos and windsor though.

PS: If anyone is ever at the Eagle, look for the really young looking kid with short brown hair playing the 3/6 (haah yea I know with all the college kids thats a tad bit vauge)and give me a "Hey Ryan."

thanks for the input - heading to the casino Oct 15 - need to decided between gary, in - soaring eagle - or greektown - or other detriot casino.

detriot is a little farther drive then the rest. i have been to harrahs several times and its good, not enough games of 6-12 and higher though.

Are there plenty of 6-12 or higher on a sat night at soaring eagle?

thanks again for your info

I am also a student at CMU out play almost exclusivly online. I used to play at soaring eagle before I started on the internet and occasionaly play there now. There are 18 tables there, on the weekends at night there is normally one 15-30 game, two 10-20, one 3-6 stud, one 3-6 Omaha h/l, five to six 6-12 holdem games, and the rest at 3-6 holdem. The 3-6 games can get insanly loose/passive at times, table selection is key. Ive played 3-6 games with 8 people to the flop every hand, and ive played 3-6 games where youll got 4 hands without seeing a flop (but that is extreamly rare). 6-12 is just as bad as 3-6. The 10-20 game is normally weak tight (not sure about the weekends though). 10-20 should be a gold mine on a saturday night because the regulars in the 10-20 game are playing 15-30 when available so the 10-20 tables are half college kids who suck and look like tools.
