Default subtitles?

all my friends think its weird that i watch dvds with the subtitles on, despite the fact i can hear fine for the most part. i just read fast enough that its not a distraction, and helps if a character speaks strangely so i dont have to rewind the movie if i miss anything. do any of you watch dvds with the subtitles on?

Agreed. I know no one who does this.

I hate dubbed movies though - if it wasn't originally filmed in English, I'll go with the foreign-language audio and subtitles.

When I watch dvds, I pretty much always have the subtitles on. Usually when I watch tv I have closed captions on too. I like being able to know exactly what people are saying.

I agree. It also allows me to watch the film several times through because there are things you miss by reading the subtitles the first time or two. I think Hero is a perfect example. It took me a few times to realize that the emporer did the best acting job in that film and then Broken sword. Actually, every actor kicks ass in that film, but the guy playing the emporer I felt did the best job

I do this too, if someone is talking to me and/or the phone rings or something loud occurs I can still follow the action. Also sometimes during certain scenes you cant understand what they are saying.

not recommended for porn.

I like them on for the same reasons... no one I know does this either though, they all think subtitles are distracting. Learn to read.
