Default RESULTS

I called, figuring he might very well still be drawing, and that he couldn't cripple me no matter what. I wouldn't have been all surprised to see something like AcJc.

He turned over 97s which gave him a lot fewer outs than I expected to face. River was a blank.

A general observation regarding these tournies is that when a player loses a big chunk of their stack in the early going, you often see them making marginal plays in an attempt to get it all back at once.

i reverse my earlier position, i suppose you really had to call with that small a bet into that pot, but man that is one bad play with 7-9 on the turn.

With 88 why didn't you go all-in on the flop hoping to win it right there?

That's what I'd have done, anyway.

If he has a straight, you still have 10 outs. If he has a bigger set, you are pretty much done. Since he called your preflop raise, I have to believe he has a pair or flush draw though, or maybe a pair of 10s.

So the only thing you are just about dead against is a larger set. Because of this, I'd call and pray to the poker gods that this guy is trying to buy it with nothing, or that he's playing a set of 7s.

(could be a very poorly played AK-J trying to rep the straight)

If he's getting his opponent to consider laying down his set, then I don't think it is poorly played at all...quite the contrary.

I think this is why it is dangerous to narrow the preflop holdings of bad players just because they called a significant raise.

OTOH...it was "soooooooooted"

good call, fnurt.

I think if you never laid down a set you wouldn't be wrong very often.

And here I lost a set of Jacks on a flop of 9-10-J to KQ and a set of 10s on a flop of 7-9-10 to J8 yesterday. Both for all my chips. Not my day, I'll have to ignore it I guess.

Well, next time it happens, I guess you are due to "suck-out" the 35% of the time you fill up by the river.
