I think the name of new sites (esp ones intending to give players a better deal) are of interest to all players and should stay up on 1 time basis...after all this is the INTERNET POKER forum...ffs why blank it off while other sites are mentioned xxxx times/day.

Mods need some common sense?

Wouldn't this kill bonuses? I guess at higher levels that's a small price to pay. I think it's a bad idea though. Why not make rake off the fish that don't care about pot odds, let alone rake, and just give better bonuses to the granny code using rakeback whores? Maybe I am wrong and it will be a great marketing tool to attract ...umm, schools of fish. I don't see it though

You're right. I'm dumb. I should allow one spam post per spammer, and not be part of the Twoplustwo system where they expect adverts to be paid for so that Twoplustwo can provide these forums for our free use.

I'm sorry, but I've mislaid this guy's e-mail address which he kindly provided so that you could contact him and he could presumably obtain some sort of referral fee by introducing you to the subject site.

However, the subject site was called Cardcrusade.

Until you pointed it out, I was making a difference between a spammer with one spam post and an established forum member with hundreds of community posts. Now that the forum will be filled with one-post-spam-posts I hope that the community members will remember that it is because of you.

Sorry Mike... just that no rake is interesting concept to discuss here on the Internet Poker forum, and names of sites that would offer this is of extreme intererst to me.

If we could all just spam then why would be buy ads that support the forum?

As Mike said it would be different if this was an established poster but it cant be allowed that anyone can sign up and spam, it would destroy the usefulness of the forum.

Honestly, our company looked into lowering the rake as well. I mean, who wouldn't in order to try to break into a very cluttered marketplace.

However, as we soon realized, the cost to get one of these sites up has been significant, not to mention the marketing, support, etc. Boo hoo, right? We chose to open the site. The rewards outway the risks if we start to see traffic, no question about that.

Some of the posts on this thread are on the money, though. The unfortunate result of this new site's venture will be seeing tight-fisted sharks rock gardening each other on the tables. And without an influx of cash from the rake to fund big freerolls, guarenteed tournaments and freebies (not to mention customer support, marketing, operations, etc), these folks look to have a rough ride just to get out of the gate.

Thanks to Earl, I'm a believer in Karma, so I'll never wish ill of any site. But assuming they get 2000 people to sign up and pay $15 per/month, that's $30K gross revenue for what might be 4 tables worth of traffic. Unless everyone in the company is bankrolled (or working for free), they're going to be in the red for quite some time.

Like it or not, a poker site is a casino and every casino needs to give away big prizes in order to stimulate the imagination. I constantly run into people and ask them about where they play poker. More often than not, I find most play at Party not because of the fish, but because they are waiting to hit the Bad Beat Jackpot. When I ask, 'you don't mind paying an extra $.50 in rake?', they to a man reply: "Yeah, but I only pay that when I win."

Zero Rake's problem will become this site's problem. Namely, how do you get casual players into a site without cold, hard cash prizes flowing from the site like water? And above all, no casual player is going to 'subscribe' to a poker site...because they all feel that's like paying a site every month to lose at poker.

Again, the market will tell. Personally, I don't know a single casual player who's complaining about the $1 rake that was taken...because they're happy about the $19 dollars they took down AND the $5 in bonus money they earned back yesterday.

I wish them luck.

it's a new thing these days.

i think the newer mods don't have the power to just ban the poster. but they can change all sorts of stuff on their profile and in their title (such as where jurollo adjusted my 'title' to say 'johnny chan spotter') so whenever a spammer or 'online-is-rigged' or 'i don't understand variance but i think i'm gods-gift of poker' type guy arrives they can expect a 'scarlet letter' or two courtesy of the mods.

I think that's how I became a journy "woman"... hehe I like it. But what does the * under someone's name mean?

It seems to be astroglide's "three strikes and you're out" system for off-kilter posts in OOT.

Which site is that?

At the risk of getting banned, the fee based site I found is called BetZip. They only offer MTT's that pay cash, but they are free to enter if you are in the players club which means you paid a monthly fee. Here is some of what they offer:

I'm thinking if you paid for a yearly subscription it comes out to about 33 cents a day. Monthly would cost about 66 cents a day. It would appear to be worth it to me, but I don't really know for sure, as they just told me people from Arizona can't be in the players club! Guess that's because of Jon Kyl or something, I haven't a clue. Most other states and Canada and even the UK are welcome. Just not Arizona.
