Default party 1/2 with deep stacks

Am I supposed to fold in this situation? My read on the villian is that he isn't a maniac, somewhat solid but i have seen him overbet the pot a few times (w/o a showdown), though never to this extent.

I would put him on a set or AA. Too risky to call imo.

too many things that are a coinflip or favorite vs. you with the straight and flush draws out there. added in the fact he could have a set/2pr/AA you must fold!

This is something that has intrigued me....what is the point of a huge overbet like this? It seems that the only time you will ever get called down is when you are beat and you will nearly never get payed off by a lesser hand. (Im aware that you arent the one over betting, Im just asking the opinion of others in the forum that might show me some logical reasoning behind bets like this).

people seem to think that by overbetting the opposition will assume they are bluffing, and thus get called my a player with a holding that they would have folded to a smaller bet that they assumed was trying to "milk them".

very player contextual though because alot of people try to rep the nut peddling mentality stated above.

anyone, am i missing something here?

For some reason, I figured my opponent was bluffing here, as I had seen him overbet the pot on the flop before several times.
I had never seen him play Aces in this way, so I don't think he had it. There was a slight chance with AQ, but more likely I figured flush draw...

I called and went runner runner ten's to take down his flopped two pair... Next time I will fold I think though.

bad/average plays love to overbet huge with a very strong hand. everyone would probably do better to always assume they have something good

Are you calling me bad/average!!!

Actually, I think you mean "players who often play against bad calling stations like to make huge overbets"
